The seven-day-a-week Solomon Star is being printed at the Fiji Sun Print Centre in Walu Bay.

A major electrical failure on the press of the national newspaper of the Solomon Islands has disrupted printing there.

Pages are now being sent electronically from the Solomon Star in Honiara to the Fiji Sun in Suva.

Editions of the Solomon Star are printed at Walu Bay.

Printed copies of the Solomon Star are then flown from Nadi to Honiara on Fiji Airways and Solomon Airlines flights.

Fiji Sun Publisher/CEO Peter Lomas said: “The Solomon Star has had close connections with the Fiji Sun.

“When they ran into this press problem we were happy to help.”

Mr Lomas said the Fiji Sun has the most up-to-date newspaper print centre in the region and was easily able to accommodate the Star.
