Team Professional Wins 2020 Temo Cup

The Vikrant Chandra-captained Team Professional retained the Temo Cup after a six point victory over the Amateurs at the Denarau Golf and Racket Club in Nadi on Sunday.

After the 36-holes of the morning’s four-ball format and afternoon’s individual match play, Team Professional scored 11.5 points while the amateurs managed a score of 5.5.

The professionals team had Roneel Prakash, Amitesh Chandra, Tomasi Tuivuna, Waisake Vati, Zoheer Ahmad, Bill Suruturaga, Vikrant Chandra, Ricky McCulloch, Praneel Prasad, Chris Kim, David roche and Munesh Prasad.

Captain Chandra said: “It was a great day of golf as we retained the title once again but it is the fellowship is more important.”

The professionals were without one of Fiji’s best players in Sam Lee, who is away in Malaysia playing on the Asian Development Tour.

The amateur team included Rohit Chandra, Rajen Singh, James Krishna (c), Abid Hussein, his son Barron Hussein, Asish Chand, Mohammedd Rizwan, Nigel Goundar, Isei Waqa, Jarend Prasad, James Prigdeon and Ryan Kumar.

Amateur team captain James Krishna said: “This is more of a competition but it is always golf that comes out victorious.”

This was the second edition of the event with the first one played in January of 2018.

The format is similar to the famous Ryder Cup played between teams from the USA and Europe.

The sponsors of the event were Vuksich and Borich Civil Contractors, supported by Temo Consulting.

Meanwhile, Lautoka Golf Club (LGC) is organising Chinese New Year Pro-am on February 2.

Professional golfers will be competing for the $1500 prize purse.

The LGC will also host the Dinesh Chand Pro-am on February 8.
