The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team are going to be without two of their top players in this weekend’s Sydney Sevens in Australia.

Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer John O’Connor confirmed yesterday that captain Raijeli Daveua and Asinate Savu had to return home due to injuries.

“Savu has a knee injury and will be here to have it assessed and if it’s serious then it could affect her chances of making it to the Olympic Games,” he said.

For Daveua, she had a muscle problem which needs immediate attention.

Forward Priscilla Siata has left to join the team in Sydney.

Veteran forward Rusila Nagasau is expected to take over as captain.

Nagasau is the current Fijiana XV captain and also in the team is former Fijiana 7s captain to the 2016 Olympic Games Ana Maria Roqica.

Meanwhile, the Fijiana side are in a tough pool in Sydney.

The Saiasi Fuli- coached side are in Pool B where they face Canada, USA and Brazil.

The pool winners will qualify for the Cup semi-finals along with the second best-placed team.

Fuli had earlier stated that they are taking each game at a time.
