The late Anasa Vocea will be remembered for his tireless service as a mentor and pillar of strength in the SODELPA youth movement.

This was the sentiment shared by Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) youth president, Jope Koroisavou, following the announcement of Mr Vocea’s passing on.

Mr Vocea was SODELPA’s campaign director in the lead up to the 2014 and 2018 General Elections.

He passed away peacefully at his home in Tamavua on Tuesday, January 28.

He was a former permanent secretary for the Ministry of Transport and Works under the Sitiveni Rabuka led Soqosoqo Vakavulewa ni Taukei (SVT) Government.

Mr Koroisavou said Mr Vocea was a respectful, engaging and helpful man.

“He was a man of true leadership and integrity and I was indeed honoured to have known him and worked with him at the SODELPA headquarters,” Mr Koroisavou said.

“I remember how he would work until the early hours of the morning striving for what he believed was his service to the nation and, especially, the occasional laughter to keep our morale up when fatigue sets in.”

He said Mr Vocea was a great mentor and pillar of strength for their youth movement.

His funeral service will be held at the Wesley Church, Butt Street on Tuesday, February 4, before being laid to rest at the Nasinu cemetery.
