The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team finished fifth in the Sydney Sevens after they beat England 17-5 in the playoffs yesterday.

Captain Tokasa Seniyasi said they came into the tournament trying to improve their standing.

The Fijians took a 12 -0 lead at halftime with tries from Lavenia Tinai and Luisa Tisolo who also added the extras.

In the second half Seniyasi showed her brilliance from a scrum at the halfway mark, she took to the blindside, and ran untouched to score in the corner. Beth Wilcock scored a consolation try for England.

Earlier on, the Fijians ended their pool play with a 31-0 drubbing of Brazil.

Olympian and veteran hooker Ana Maria Roqica said they came out firing as they aimed for a Cup semi-final berth.

“But I’m happy that the girls played well as they also wanted a win to celebrate my birthday as well,” she said.

Roqica turned 32 yesterday.

The Fijiana tries were scored by Tisolo, Seniyasi, Aloesi Nakoci while winger Ana Maria Naimasi scored twice.
