Sydney Sevens: Our Night

Lightning and thunderstorms at the Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta, Australia, last night failed to stop the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team from lifting the Sydney Sevens title for the first time.
Playmaker Napolioni Bolaca stamped his mark in the position by scoring two tries and converting one for the 12-10 win over South Africa in the Cup final.
Sevens legend and commentator Karl Te Nana described Bolaca as the man with the “King Midas” touch.
“Everything he touches for the Fijians turn to gold,” he said of Bolaca, who was also awarded the HSBC Player of the Final.
Co-captain Meli Derenalagi said the message before the final was to enjoy their game, but they’ve to execute their job.
“I’m thankful to the soldiers behind me for making it happen,” he said.
The 21-year-old also acknowledged his senior players co-captain Jerry Tuwai, Waisea Nacuqu and Sevuloni Mocenacagi for assisting him along the way.
