A 35-year-old farmer who is alleged to have murdered a 21-year-old in Tailevu appeared at the Magistrates Court in Nausori yesterday.

Setareki Ratatania appeared before Magistrate Lasitha Chaminda.

Ratatania is charged with one count of murder.

The alleged incident occurred on February 3 at Namuka Village in Bau, Tailevu.

The accused allegedly assaulted the victim. The victim fell from the village seawall.

The deceased was rushed to the Nausori Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police prosecution was represented by Sergeant Mukesh Rao while the accused appeared in person.

Magistrate Chaminda has transferred the matter to the High Court in Suva.

The matter has been adjourned for First Call in the High Court to February 13.

Ratatania has been remanded in custody.
