Vodafone Fiji Football and ATK captain Roy Krishna scored a hat-trick as they defeated Odisha 3-1 in their Indian Super League match yesterday.

After a goal-less first half, the Labasa lad virtually killed the contest in the space of 15 minutes as he struck in the 49th, 60th and 63rd minutes to take ATK past FC Goa at the top of the table on goal difference.

Fijis wonder boy Krishna said the team knew the abilities they have and utilized it.

“We knew of our strengths so we just needed to defend well so when we go on the counter-attack there were times we needed to be calm and take our opportunities so today I got three good passes and I needed to make the right runs that made me scored the three goals,” he said.

“I think it was well-played everyone played very well and we defended well.”

“It was silly to consider a goal earlier on but overall we are happy for our performance today.”

“We going to take each game as it comes across so next week in Chennai another good side and it will be a tough game so we are going to recover well today. We going to work really hard for next weekend’s game which won’t be easy.”

Meanwhile, with two matches remaining ATK now has 33 points and remain firm in contention for the top spot.

The top team at the league phase will qualify for the AFC Champions League group stage.
