Winger Laisiasa Karaci was the toast for the Sukanacagi Crusaders Vitogo rugby side in the 5-0 win over Batiri in the final of the Lautoka Rugby Union’s 10s (second round) competition at Nadovu Park, on Saturday.

The 19-year-old scored in the corner towards the end of the first half as they beat the round one winners.

Sukanacagi team manager Apisai Lago said, “It was a good performance by the boys as we only trained for one week. The boys are still students with an average age of 19.

“There are some small things to iron out but credit to Batiri for giving us a good go.”

Vitogo beat Veiyasana 19-7 in the semifinal while Batiri beat RKSOB 19-5.

In the quarterfinals: Veiyasana 12-5 Namoli, Vitogo 5-0 Draulu, Batiri 10-5 Vuda Green I, and RKSOB 12-5 Vuda Green II.

PRE-SEASON GAMES

LRU secretary Sefanaia Scholte said 16 teams took part in the competition.

He added that there would be a pre-season match against the Australian Tuggeranong Vikings Rugby XV and Maroons XV on March 7 in Lautoka.

NOTICE TO ALL PLAYERS

Meanwhile, players who want to represent the Lautoka Maroons in the Skipper Cup Premiership will have to be part of the fitness test which begins with Yo-Yo at the Multi-purpose court on February 12.

The test starts at 4pm, gym test on February 13, and open trials on February 15 (8am – 4pm).
