The chair of the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service board Fay Yee said she is not aware of the resignation of the chief executive officer Visvanath Das.

It is being claimed Mr Das has resigned from the position citing personal reasons.

When contacted on Thursday and Friday afternoon he said he was still at work.

When contacted at his office yesterday, Mr Das said: “Do I have any privacy in this place?”

“I am still at work,” he said while walking away at FRCS building.

Ms Yee said: “I really have no comment. I have received and seen your email and our approach is not to avoid the media.”

She said they would issue a statement in due course.

“We will have our board meeting next week and we will discuss it.”

It is understood that other FRCS board members are not aware of Mr Das’ resignation.

It is understood Mr Das was invited in for an interview earlier this week by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).

It is understood FICAC is continuing its investigations into a matter that involves a senior executive of the FRCS.

FICAC in a statement said it isn’t divulging any information at this point in time.
