Former Ministry Of Health Employee Fronts Court For Forgery

A former employee of the Ministry of Health appeared in the Suva

Magistrates Court yesterday charged with offences related to corruption.

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) charged Mr Mohammed Ifraz with one count each of forgery and using forged document.

He is alleged to have made false documents namely, certificates from the Fiji Institute of Technology and Fiji National University, and attempted to use them to gain employment with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

These offences are alleged to have happened between November 2018 and March 2019.

FICAC State Counsel Sera Fatafehi told the court that first phase disclosures was served and there was no objection to bail.

Resident Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama released Ifraz on bail, and instructed him to surrender his passport. He also issued a stop departure order accordingly.

The matter was adjourned to 24 March, 2020.
