The United States Army commenced its procurement operations for an upcoming event that combines its army with the military forces from Fiji and Tonga.

Symposium

The two day vendor symposium aims to lease equipment from local businesses for the use of Exercise Cartwheel 20 in Nadi in August.

US Embassy Army Attache Major Andrew Giesey said the turn out on the first day was indicative of the growing level of interest from the local business community.

“It shows the potential we have to make good contracts.”

The vendor symposium will continue in Nadi tomorrow.

Exercise Cartwheel 20

Exercise Cartwheel 20 marks the second exercise of its kind in Fiji since an agreement was reached between the US and Fiji military forces. Last year, the exercise was held in Vanua Levu.

Major Giesey said basic soldier skills, urban operations training, and cultural exchange are part of the annual August exercise.
