Grammar boys won 23 gold, 25 silver and 11 bronze medals while Marist Brothers High School was second (20, 19, 17), Lomary Secondary third (3, 0, 7).

Suva Grammar School dominated the Suva Zone Two athletics competition at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.

The boys defended their title while the women were crowned new winners.

SGS won the boys and girls division in the sub junior, junior and senior grades.

Grammar boys won 23 gold, 25 silver and 11 bronze medals while Marist Brothers High School was second (20, 19, 17), Lomary Secondary third (3, 0, 7).

In the girls division, SGS claimed 23 gold, 14 silver and 15 bronze medals beating last year’s champion, St Joseph’s Secondary School (21, 21, 15), Lomary Secondary third ( 6, 3, 7).

The overall best female and male athlete was awarded to Suva Grammars blue ribbon champs, Salote Baravilala and Tevita Sokiveta.

Six Records

The six records set yesterday:

Sub junior boys 1500m by Suva Grammar student, Manasa Puamau – 4.57min;

Sub junior boys Shot Put by Suva Grammar Francis Peter – 12.54metres;

Inter boys’ high jump Kaiava Francis Suva Grammar-1.95m;

Inter girls discus Seini Caucauniqoli of SJSS – 32 .78m;

Senior girls 100m & 200m by Suva Grammar Salote Baravilala.

A total of 15 schools with 827 athletes participated yesterday.
