The country’s football fraternity mourns the death of Northland Tailevu Football Association president Shane Ravindra.

The 39-year-old took up the presidency post last year.

Under his leadership, the Northland Tailevu senior team qualified for the Courts Interdistrict Championship after missing out in 2018 and the Under-16 team reached the semi-finals of the Southern playoffs.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family who are going through a difficult time,” said Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel.

“On behalf of Fiji FA and all football loving public, I extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to his wife and children. Shane departs us now for a new journey and may his soul rest in peace.”

Northland Tailevu FA Treasurer Deepak Lal said they are still trying to come to terms with the shocking news.

“He leaves behind a legacy which many of us would only dream of fulfilling,” he said.

Ravindra was born and bred in Lodoni, Tailevu and owns the Narere Buses and Lodoni Transport. He is survived by his wife Kritika and two sons.
