Drugged, Abducted, Sold For Sex: Victim Tells Of Traumatic Ordeal

Mereseini Nabou last night claimed that she was drugged, abducted and sold for sex.
The 19-year-old from Lami alleged that she escaped from her captors on Saturday after being held in confinement at a Nausori house for 10 days and reported the matter to the Police. The alleged captors were a woman in her 40s and a transgender called “Gigi”.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed last night that they were investigating the allegations.
They were also waiting for lab test results, she said.
Ms Nabou warned young women not to accept drinks or rides from strangers.
She was sitting at a bus stop in Vatuwaqa on February 26 when she was approached by the woman, she claimed.
“The woman offered me drink in a bottle. After I drank it, I immediately became dizzy,” she recalled.
“That’s all I could remember. When I woke up I was in this house in Nausori with three younger girls.
“We were beaten up and our arms and backs were slashed with razor blades. We were warned not to try anything and follow instructions.
“We were then taken to meet different clients for sex. If we refused, we get a hiding. Last Saturday I escaped with the help of a taxi driver who took me to the Police Mobile Unit in Makoi.”
