Naiqama Joins Kaiviti Silktails

Former Fiji Bati and Newcastle Knights captain Wes Naiqama is joining the Kaiviti Silktail coaching staff.

Kaiviti Silktail chairman Petero Civoniceva confirmed that Naiqama who is part of the Knights coaching staff has agreed to join the first semi-professional rugby league football club based in Fiji.

“We are very excited Naiqama will be joining our coaching staff as well,” he said.

“He has agreed to leave that role and join the Kaiviti Silktail. He will be based here on a full time capacity.

“He will join Bill Diudomo and Jone Wesele. The focus is on the players, also strong focus on developing our local coaches,” he said.

Naiqama played for the London Broncos in England and Penrith Panthers, St George Illawarra and Newcastle Knights in NRL.

He played for 14 times for the Fiji Bati from 2006 – 2014.

The Brandon Costin coached Silktails side will play its first match in the Ron Massey Cup against Wolves at Churchill Park in Lautoka at 3pm.

The Silktails has rented out a three-storey building in Lautoka which will be the team’s accommodation, office, gym and dining room.
