Ulaiasi Nasilasila and his family chose to celebrate the life of his late son Mosese, a victim of an alleged hit and run case along Dravuni Street in Lautoka last Friday.

Setting aside their grief, the Nasilasila family celebrated the 23-year-old young father’s life with close family and friends on Wednesday night at their home in Tomuka.

Mosese died a day after his first wedding anniversary and a few days before his birthday.

“We celebrated his birthday yesterday (Wednesday) and we lit candles in the presence of all of Mosese’s friends. We all sang the happy birthday song after which his wife and daughter blew out the lit candles,” he said.

“We his parents shared memories of the day he was born when we first held him in our arms until the time where he left us.”

He described his late son as a compassionate and loving person.

“I thank God for his life. His mother, in particular, finds it hard to accept that he is gone. He and his wife just celebrated their anniversary last Thursday and when he left on Friday morning, he was leaving us for good,” he said.

“His loss is so painful because he was very obedient, looked after his family members and they always said he was a different person because he was humble, never angry and a hard worker,” Mr Nasilasila lamented.

Despite the loss of a loved one, Mr Nasilasila said they were grateful for the prayers and support which gave them strength.

The funeral service of the late Mosese will be held at their home this morning where he will also be laid to rest.

He is survived by his wife Lanieta Tuivomo and two-week-old daughter Laniana Bucobuco.
