Fijian Holdings Limited is looking to recruit a local to take up the role of chief executive officer.

Speaking to Fiji Sun, the acting chair of Fijian Holdings Limted Yogesh Karan said they have advertised the post and PriceWaterhouseCoopers was close to finalising the process.

“We will be looking at the short list very soon, but our intention is to get a local for the job,” Mr Karan said.

“They (board members) serve a three year term and upon the decision of their shareholders, they’re either replaced or reappointed.”

Construction industry

Meanwhile, Mr Karan had met with the chief executive officers for Pacific Cement and Basic Industries on the plans to merge the two industries.

“There are signs showing the slow growth in the construction industry.

“I have asked and they have explained the reasons.

“Therefore, we’re holding everything as it is until we will get a new CEO, while there are some vacant positions for the directors.

“We’re looking at the end of next month to find the new captain of the ship, including the directors,” he said.

Roadshow

Mr Karan said the two-day roadshow which was scheduled for yesterday and today were postponed because of unfavorable weather.

He said the roadshow will he held when the weather cleared.
