Swami Vivekananda College Year 11 student Young Eun Cho is reaping the fruits of her hard work.

Cho came to Fiji in January last year to better her English and has been impressive in school lately, competing in various activities when the chance arises.

Recently, she scored 100 marks in the Fiji Mathematics Competition (FMC), which is no coincidence.

“My efforts did not betray me,” she said overwhelmingly.

The Suwon, South Korean, native undertakes pure-arts subjects such as Accounting, Economic, Office Technology, Mathematics and English.

“The reason why I came to Fiji is to study English. The reason I was able to get this prize, I tried to solve the entire question in the textbook. I did revision every day,” she said with a grin.

“I always received 99 marks in term one, two and three ends. So I was not too sure to expect that. When I learned what I had gained, I was surprised.”

Looking ahead, she wants to get a job that allows her to visit other countries. One of her hobbies include meeting people.

Her parents run a family business back home. Her brother, Youn Hu Cho, a former SVC student, is currently attending a university in Korea.

They are in the country through the Edupia Fiji, a Korea-based institution that looks after and arranges homestay accommodations for Korean students studying in Fiji. This year there is a total of 14 boys and 13 girls.
