A family, who lost everything during a fire two weeks ago, is thankful for the donation they received from the Lions Club of Labasa last Friday.

Mother of two Laisa Vesikula was happy when she received a phone call from her children’s headteacher that someone was donating school uniforms and stationaries for her two sons, who attend Bulileka Primary Dharm School.

“We appreciate the kind donation from the Lions Club of Labasa. My sons have both received a new pair of uniform and some stationaries, which will surely boost them in school,” Ms Vesikula said.

Ms Vesikula recalled the day that the house they were renting caught fire.

“It was during the day when the house caught fire, and I was only able to save two suitcases of clothes, she said.

“The rest of our belonging were all burnt in the fire.

“My two boys were at school while my husband was in Suva for a workshop.

“Both my sons have four pairs of uniform each and sports uniform.

“The only uniform they had left was the ones they had on when they went to school on that day.

“We are currently rebuilding our life after the fire and we’re so thankful to all those that have shown kindness and support by providing whatever donations they could.”

Ms Vesikula said the fire had affected her children’s academic performance, but the donation had really made the boys happy.

Lions Club of Labasa President Rajesh Rishiram said the club always reached out to the community to help the underprivileged and the poor.
