New South Wales Rugby League To Decide On Kaiviti Silktails Games

The Kaiviti Silktails rugby league team’s second match in the Ron Massey Cup competition now hangs in the balance with the New South Wales Rugby League to decide today on their remaining games.
The Silktails were scheduled to host 10 matches at Lautoka’s Churchill Park.
After winning their first game last Saturday they’ll now have to wait for the decision made on visiting teams due to the threat of coronavirus.
Fiji National Rugby League acting chief executive officer Don Natabe said yesterday that relevant authorities are looking into the matter.
“FNRL has been updated about the travel restrictions in place in Australia,” he said.
“The NSW Rugby League is to meet tonight and will have a decision tomorrow on the directions and measures taken towards the rest of the games in the competition and also of the home games we have.
“Right now I believe the most important thing is the well-being and the safety of the players both here locally and overseas.
“We’ll be looking and waiting for relevant authorities to come up with plans and solutions.”
Natabe added the Australian government’s approach towards coronavirus would affect the players and their families.
“These are semi-professional players that are playing in the competition, they have jobs and families there.
“The 14 days isolation period given by the Australian government covers any team returning to Australia will have to be quarantined.
“This will affect the teams travelling over so NSW rugby league are looking at options to facilitate the current health crisis.”
