Commander Australian Fleet, Rear Admiral Jonathan Mead, AM, RAN, welcomes Commander Ledua Yaco, of the Fijian Navy.

A first for the Republic of Fiji Military Forces naval division, Commander Ledua Yaco, who previously held the position of Maritime Commander, will lead a Fijian contingent to Sinai soon.

Commander Yaco started in the Fiji Navy as a diving officer and has a service record spanning close to 25 years.

He will be the first naval officer in the country to lead a peacekeeping deployment tour as Commanding Officer under the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO).

The MFO is an international peacekeeping force overseeing the terms of the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.

Maritime Commander (Navy) Timoci Natuva said the Fiji Navy was proud of Commander Yaco’s achievement.

“The Navy is really proud that he is doing this and we wish him well. We know given his professional conduct, knowledge and years of service that he will be able to do a good job,” Commander Natuva said.

“He is a very committed and dedicated officer. Very professional.”

The Fijian contingent was expected to leave on Monday night. However, it is understood that the deployment logistics has been moved to a later date, awaiting confirmation from the MFO headquarters.
