FCCC: Limit Essential Items And Medication

As you may have read, or seen for yourself, these are unusual and challenging times. We know it can be frustrating when you don’t get the products you need.
The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) would like to update you on the supply and availability of essential food items and medication.
We are working very closely with importers, wholesalers and retailers to get products onto shelves as quickly as we can to meet this demand.
It is worth noting that the vast majority of products are not affected, and supermarkets and pharmacies are not seeing shortages. However, to make sure everyone has access to essential items, we have introduced some common-sense limits to essential products.
Retailers have been asked to exercise their judgement based on customer and store locations to limit sales for customers so that everyone has fair access.
We will constantly monitor the situation and have asked traders to do their best to keep all products available to everyone. If shortages are noted then other limits may be put in place, however this will only be done if absolutely necessary. Our role is to help make sure all
Fijians can access the products they need.
FCCC will monitor this situation and release advisories as required.
We must, as Fijians, ensure that we all do our part and ensure that we display the true Fijian spirit. In tough times like this, our humanity will be tested – we were ‘StrongerthanWinston’ we will be StrongerthanCOVID as well.
We all need to move together and ensure that we do not panic. Our team members are doing the very best they can, so please support them, and each other.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this together as one united Fijian family.
