Four-Day Work Week Implemented At Five Marriott Properties In Fiji

Marriott Fiji International has placed immediate contingency action across their hotels includes the implementation of a four-day work week for staff.
Multi Property Vice President, Fiji & Samoa, General Manager Sheraton & Westin Resorts Neeraj Chadha confirmed this yesterday. The five properties that fall under Marriott Fiji International flagship are The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa, Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, Sheraton Fiji Resort,Sheraton Denarau Villas, and Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island, Fiji
Mr Chadha said: “We have reviewed the various options available to us in these circumstances. Working closely with hotel owners, we feel that this solution is the best option for our hotels and our hotel employees in the current climate.
Cancellation fees
“For our valued guests, individual cancellation fees have been waived for stays through April 30, 2020 for guests from over 27 countries.
He added that Marriott International in Fiji is closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organisation’s statements regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and following guidelines from these agencies and the Ministry of Health, Fiji.
“While the ultimate impact is difficult to predict at this time given the fluidity of the situation, we remain confident in our long-term prospects.
“We take standards for hygiene and cleanliness very seriously and are taking steps to ensure the safety of our guests and associates.
Demand drops
“As travel restrictions and social distancing efforts around the world become much more widespread, we are experiencing significant drops in demand at our hotel with an uncertain duration.
“We are adjusting operations accordingly and working quickly to mitigate the impact to our business while also focusing on protecting our associates, guests and owners,” Mr Chadha said:
