Negotiations are underway for Fijian light heavyweight champion Savenaca Naliva to fight for an International Boxing Organisation (IBO) title on July 11 at AD Patel College ground in Ba.

This was confirmed to SUNsports yesterday by South Pacific Boxing Promotions promoter Freddy Chand.

“We’re talking with all stakeholders especially with the Boxing Commission of Fiji,” he said.

“If we get through with the IBO title, it will be a big fight for Save Naliva especially in front of his home fans.”

Chand indicated that the promotion for July 11 will be a big one with the Fijian heavyweight title also at stake.

The current number one contender is James Singh who last weekend was knocked out in the first round by Herman Eni Purcell in Toowoomba, Queensland in Australia.

Chand indicated that they are looking at Singh’s opponent for the Fijian heavyweight title fight.

“We’ve got someone but we’re waiting for the Commission’s approval before we will do the official announcement.”

He said that they are now working on their match-making before they release all the details of the programme.

“It’s going to be bigger and better than the last one we had,” Chand added.

The last programme attracted big crowd with tremendous support from the Ba community.
