My Wife, My Pillar Of Strength: FNU Graduate

It was a long journey for Avinesh Deo, but yesterday, he finally graduated with a Bachelor in Secondary Education majoring in Accounting and Economics from the Fiji National University (FNU).
Dedicating his achievement to his wife and in-laws who were present for his graduation at the Civic Centre in Labasa, Mr Deo said: “My wife has always been my pillar of strength and because of her, I am here today.”
He also acknowledged his parents who could not attend the graduation ceremony due to health issues.
Mr Deo, who is a secondary school teacher at Nadogo Central College, enrolled for the FNU programme in 2014. He completed a few educational units and completed his Bachelor degree in August last year.
Originally from Wainikoro, Labasa, and married with two children, Mr Deo said it was difficult for him to travel from Wainikoro every weekday and attend his classes from 6am to 9pm.
“During the rainy seasons, I had to manage myself well before travelling because my area gets flooded and I cannot miss my classes,” he said.
Mr Deo is currently planning to continue with further studies in the coming years.
Mr Deo reminded the youths and graduates to study hard and focus on their dreams.
