Fighting the coronavirus is like playing for the Fiji Airways Fijians 7s team on the World Sevens Series, says Meli Derenalagi.

And the 7s captain said people of Fiji can overcome the obstacle through a united front and the ‘blood of the Lamb.’

He made the comment when he was the best man at the wedding of team-mate Josua Vakurunabili and Sereima Taiti at Vatukarasa Village, Nadroga on Friday.

“Playing 7s around the globe is like battling the pandemic we are facing now,” Derenalagi said.

“There are obstacles ahead that we need to conquer and win and not lose the battle. We need to be in it together through team effort.

“My message to our supporters is that we can conquer all through the ‘blood of the Lamb.’

“Please stay safe, don’t panic and we will overcome this together.”

Derenalagi wished the new couple Josua and Sereima the very best.

“I am happy for my teammate Josua for his big day today. I believe the Vakurunabili family will always acknowledge God to be their captain in their new journey. All the best for the future.”
