The Fiji Rugby Union is going to consult the Ministry of Health officials to discuss ways the Fiji Airways Fijian men’s and women’s teams could train during this period.

This was confirmed to SUNsports yesterday by FRU chief executive officer John O’Connor.

This was after World Rugby announced that the men’s HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series tournaments in London and Paris will be postponed, provisionally until September.

And the women’s World Rugby Sevens Series tournament in Langford has been postponed until later in the year.

“We will respect the decision that has been made taking into priority the welfare and safety of our players,” O’Connor said.

“We have complied with measures instructed by government.

“Players living in Lautoka have been given their programmes too as well as those outside.

“But we’re looking at meeting the Ministry of Health to see what kind of training we are allowed to do before we commit to any training for the sevens teams both men and women,” he added.

Both teams have qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan which is from July 24 to August 9.
