COVID-19: Resort Assists Lautoka Affected Residents
The Dua Dua Resort at Volivoli Point Rakiraki.

Stranded families or individuals who are unable to get home because of the COVID-19 border restrictions in the Lautoka confined area, can book a room for free at the Dua Dua Resort at Volivoli Point, Rakiraki.

Resort owner and manager Savita Gounden said they were happy to help affected families during this period.

She said accommodation spaces were open only to residents of Lautoka.

“We have heard the news that there were some people who cannot go back home so we thought if people are finding it difficult to find a place to stay, then we are open to them for free.

“When they book, we will conduct the necessary checks and ascertain if they really need to be given a room.”

The resort has five villas and two self-contained villas.

Ms Gounden said they hoped to fill in the rooms that weren’t booked.

“Business has been slow and we will give out rooms according to their availability. Once we are fully booked we would not be able to give out anymore.”

So far, she said, they had received three bookings from individuals needing their assistance.

“We will be accommodating them until the border restrictions will be reviewed.

“If you need help just call us up and hand in your details and if there is a vacant room then we will be able to accommodate you.”

  • For bookings, the resort can be contacted on 7768033.
