Fiji Yuva Institute Of Sanatan Gyan Responds To Sanitary Care Needs Of Less Fortunate

A Year 13 student and an organisation’s initiative are helping the less fortunate and elderly citizens save costs in buying basic sanitary items to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since Monday, Fiji Yuva Institute of Sanatan Gyan, has been handing out free face masks and soaps to the elderly and homeless in Suva City.

Organisation president Ravneel Chand said the project was steered by Dainisha Chand, who is a Year 13 student at DAV College.

“We need to be considerate of others, practise social distancing and look out for the vulnerable, especially elders.”

Dainisha said face masks had been valued at exorbitant prices and vulnerable people such as the elderly, disabled, and financially unstable are excluded from accessing these items.

Dainisha said this was a small contribution by the organisation to the community during this pandemic.
