Between The Lines: Sugar

SUGAR
For some, the world is coming to an end and it has nothing to do with having five confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Fiji.
With no sugar in supply at the supermarkets, some went into a panic mode.
There was bulk buying of whatever was left and those who could not get their hands on any had even contemplated giving up sugar.
Some supermarkets had large queues with people waiting to buy sugar. A gentleman had driven in from Navua to Suva in search of sugar.
We request conspiracy theorists to lay off their theories.
It has been clarified that Fiji Sugar Corporation has 15,000 tonnes of sugar which are being packed and will be brought to other parts from Lautoka.
So if you need sugar with your tea, rest assured, Fiji has enough sugar.
RISKY BEHAVIOUR
While some are taking the precautionary measures of COVID-19 seriously, there are those who are not practising the social distancing as they’re crowded and having grog sessions.
A village in the Northern Division falsely claimed to have a suspected case earlier last week was noticed to have grog gathering-of more than 20 people.
Hopefully none of them will be showing symptoms of the virus soon.
