COVID-19: Shahaan, 18, Leads Virus War

Last week, when Mohammed Shahaan took his grandfather to the Samabula Health Centre, he noted that the premises outside the centre could do with a clean up.
Yesterday, he took employees and equipment from his father’s company – Suva Forklift Hire – to clean up the health centre.
The 18-year-old head boy from Suva Muslim College said he thought the clean-up was necessary since the nation was battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I know that people in Fiji are busy preparing for possible lockdown situations and to fight the coronavirus,” he said.
“I knew that it was my part to clean the Samabula Health Centre. The outside verandahs and walls could do with a rigorous clean.
“This is what I believe I can do as my part and follow the instructions from the authorities. I hope that people in Fiji can unite by listening to the authorities on what can be done.”
Young Shahaan said Fijians needed to stand together to battle this invisible enemy and the best way to do that was by listening to what the Ministry of Health was saying.
He urged his peers to make the sacrifice, if not for themselves, then for others.
Suva Forklift Hire director Mohammed Sareem was proud of his son’s request and he did not hesitate to provide what was needed for the task.
The Samabula Health Centre is one of the busiest clinics located along the Suva-Nausori corridor.
