Three villages in the Province of Cakaudrove Naweni, Lavena, Nabalebale have gone on total lockdown after the announcement of the first COVID-19 case in the country.

“With 79 households and more than 300 population, it was important to lay down preventative measures against the virus,” Nabalebale Village headman Atonio Batavotavo said.

“I know that there are people of Nabalebale who want to come to the village, but it is a humble request if they could remain at where they are right now.

“Since there is no village meeting, I have distributed posters to every household with the instructions to wash their hands with soap and water and to follow hygiene protocols.

“In addition to that, villagers have been told to clean up their surroundings and keep hydrated and eat lots of fruits and vegetables.

“There has been no grog party in the village ever since and no other sort of gathering. Families have remained in their homes for devotion on Sunday.”

“Mr Batavotavo said they followed all the instructions by the Government and were liaising with the Cakaudrove Provincial office in disseminating relevant information.”
