COVID-19: 123 Arrests Made During Curfew Hours Inclusive Of A Church Reverend

The high number of arrests made during the curfew hours from 8pm to 5am this morning is a shocking sign of disobedience in a time where we are needing everyone to listen, obey, comply and restrict movement and gatherings.
One hundred and twenty-three (123) people were arrested during the nationwide curfew hours including a Church Reverend who allegedly conducted a wedding ceremony in Nayavu Village resulting in the gathering of more than 20 people who were arrested after they were allegedly moving around during curfew hours and three arrests made on the island of Rotuma.
The Eastern Division recorded forty-one (41) arrests, forty (40) in the South, thirty-one (31) in the West, seven (7) Central and four (4) in the North.
There’s no excuse for anyone to be still found breaching the curfew hours following the stern warning issued by the Hon. Prime Minister and the extensive awareness and warnings issued by Police.
People need to realise the seriousness of the situation that we are in as a nation and stay at home unless it is an emergency situation.
The fact that another 123 people have shown that they are not willing to comply with the curfew restrictions is a major concern.
The fact that the information about the breaches are coming through via tips, is testament that there are many who are genuinely concerned about the possible health implications on themselves and their communities and support the importance of restricting movement in light of the latest developments that have resulted in the lockdown of the greater Suva area.
Those arrested from last night till this morning will be produced in special court sittings all around Fiji.
