COVID-19: 3 Police Officers Having A Kava Session Amongst 61 Arrests During Curfew Hours

As the number of people arrested for breaching curfew hours decreases from the 110 to 21 in comparison to the last 24hour reporting period, there is however an increase in the number of social gathering breaches.

A total of 61 arrests were made for both the breach of curfew hours and social gatherings which included three police officers.

Forty people were arrested for breaching social gathering restrictions.

Eight people were arrested in Nabua after they were allegedly found drinking yaqona in a Grog shop, while three Police officers and a security guard were arrested at the Colo-i-Suva Community Post yesterday morning for allegedly having a kava session.

In Lautoka four youths who were found gathering under a mango tree were warned to disperse, but allegedly refused to do so and were arrested.

We have a zero tolerance policy and enough awareness has been conducted on what everyone needs to do and we will not be accepting any excuses.

Police officers flouting these measures will feel the full brunt of the law and will also face our internal disciplinary measures.
