Toorak Man Found Loitering Along Renwick Road During Curfew Pleads Guilty

A 30-year-old man from Toorak, who was found loitering along Renwick Road at 9:40pm on Saturday, will be sentenced tomorrow afternoon.

The accused, Taione Lesumaiigiladi, appeared before Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne. He pleaded guilty to one count of disobedience of lawful order.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Ravi Kumar served him with full phase disclosures and did not object to his bail.

The court heard that the accused is unemployed and looks after his three children at home while his wife works.

He was found by two Police officers on that night while smelling of liquor.

The accused asked Magistrate Somaratne for forgiveness and gave his assurance that he will not violate the curfew again.

Sergeant Kumar said the penalty was $5000 fine. The accused told the court that he would look for employment to pay his fine.

Magistrate Somaratne imposed a 7pm to 6am curfew for the accused until he is sentenced.
