Ministry Of Agriculture Probes Dead Birds Mystery In Naweni

The Ministry of Agriculture is continuing with their investigation into a rather strange event; dead birds falling from the sky in Naweni, Cakaudrove Province on Monday.
Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development, Waterways and Environment Mahendra Reddy said the Department of Environment and Biosecurity Authority of Fiji were sent to the village to look into the bizarre news.
“At this moment we cannot reveal what happened as the investigation is continuing.”
Tui Naweni, Lavisai Kabakoro said there were speculations that it was linked to the 5G network.
“According to the video, it happened in a settlement outside Naweni Village boundary.
“Whoever was taking the video was saying the reason was that it could be because of COVID-19 in the Northern Division.”
He said in the video there were about six Mynah birds, some were dead while some were trying to breathe.
An email sent to the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji requesting for their response on Tuesday morning proved futile.
Fact Check
- The Guardian reported that the International Commission on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection which sets guidelines on the output of mobile masts said there was not a single scientifically substantiated adverse health effect that can be attributed to a normal 5G installation.
