The 96 homes in the Soasoa, Labasa, lockdown area will be given a food pack each by the Macuata Muslim League.

League president Hazeem Hussein said they planned to do a distribution on Wednesday.

“The food packs will consist of basic food items such as rice, dhal, flour, some tinned food, with each food pack costing about $50 each, totalling to $4800 to $5000,” Mr Hussein said.

“Sponsors have come from the members of the Muslim league, corporate organisations and an Islamic charity from Australia: I-Charity, Kasmir Transport, A. Hussein Company and A.K. Hire Services have all contributed to make this possible.

“We are really sorry for those people who live in the lockdown area. Because of one person, the whole community is suffering.

“We want to share their grievances and hopefully they will maintain a positive attitude despite the lockdown.

“Hopefully they will remain in good fellowship and be a good neighbourhood and come out stronger.”
