COVID-19: Council Health Staff Join Screening Cause

Four staff members in the Suva City Council Health Department have been seconded to join the Ministry of Health and Medical Services’ COVID-19 teams engaging in the community screening programme.
Chairman for the Board of Special Administrators, Isikeli Tikoduadua, said: “This was an opportunity for them as they are able to provide the personnel to be on the frontline to be part of the COVID-19 team.
“Our staff, together with the Ministry of Health team, is going out to homes to take the temperatures of residents and to advocate on healthy living.”
SCC has also deployed enforcement officers to monitor the unnecessary movement of people in the City.
“We are also asking Fijians in the greater Suva area to remain at home if they have no business in Suva. Everyone is to adhere to the directives set in place by Government and to avoid coming into Suva at all costs.”
In the Suva market, SCC has marked seven exits and eight entry points into the Suva Municipal Market.
These measures have been taken to limit the number of people entering the market place.
“SCC is trying its best to control the numbers and have spaced out vendors, which means reducing the fear of vendors contracting coronavirus,” Mr Tikoduadua said.
