Here are some of the important things you should know from Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama’s speech that will help you during this COVID-19 pandemic.
- The nationwide curfew remains in effect between 8pm-5am
- People cannot go into public areas and should remain at home, inside their compound during curfew hours.
- Nightclubs stay closed
- Gyms stay closed
- Cinemas stay closed
- Pools stay closed
- Public gatherings are not permitted. (no time limit)
- Social gathering not permitted (this includes grog and alcohol parties where people go to other’s residences or anywhere else. People living in the same home can partake in this, but no one outside is invited.)
- Physical distancing of two metres from all others should be maintained at all times
- Retail businesses which were regarded as non-essential can take place.
- People can travel into and out of Suva
- No picnics.
- No unnecessary travelling.
- No sports – eg; touch rugby, soccer at local playgrounds
- Stay away from children’s parks.
- People can still exercise, go for walks and runs provided social distancing is practised.
- Fishing is allowed during curfew hours.
