Latileta Marama Vulovulo, the guardian of the late Jone Masirewa, said she had forgiven those who might have done wrong to her nephew.

The 84-year-old said this as Masirewa was laid to rest yesterday at the Tavakubu Cemetery in Lautoka.

Ms Vulovulo said: “This is a sad time for me especially knowing that he is gone but we want to let the men know that we forgive them.

“I’m at peace.

“I dreamt about him on Tuesday, the same week he died and was supposed to have his case on that same Tuesday.

“I couldn’t see the casket coming because of my bad eyesight but I could feel that he is no longer with us and has gone to a better place.

“I am still thinking about him now that he has gone but my family is here to help me through this hard time.”

Close family and friends were present at his Natokowaqa residence to farewell him.

Details of case

Masirewa was allegedly killed in Lautoka last week.

Four Fiji Corrections Service officers were charged in relation to his death and appeared in a special court sitting at the Magistrates Court in Lautoka on Sunday.
