Family Residing In Nabua Settlement Thankful For Donation

A 40-year-old resident of the Nabua Muslim League Settlement is thankful to the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) and the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, Fiji, for their donation.
Amit Kumar and his family received food rations from the two organisations yesterday.
Mr Kumar said it was a challenge to survive during the quarantine and lockdown.
“I have four children, my wife is pregnant and I have no job to support my family during this pandemic,” he said.
Mr Kumar said his family appreciated the generous unexpected gesture.
FCCC chief executive officer Joel Abraham said the donation was part of the Veilomani Food Bank initiative. He said the donation was done after the team’s ground assessment of families that were struggling during the crisis.
“The initiative has two distinct characteristics. One is the veilomani spirit, which is love one another and it is found in the Biblical principle of ‘love thy neighbour’,” he said.
“We have distributed 35 packs at the settlement and on Friday night, we dispatched 99 packs to Soasoa in Labasa,” Mr Abraham said.
Universal church pastor Fabiano Moreas said this was a social community-based charity to help families during the lockdown.
“We spent over $3,000 on the rations and this is what we can afford,” he said.
