Social Gathering Top Curfew Breach Arrests

The number of people arrested for social gatherings continue to be a concern especially since the awareness messages about limiting unnecessary person-to-person contact has been emphasised time and time again.
Of the eighty three (83) arrests made in the last 24hours, sixty one (61) were for breach of social gathering.
The Western Division in total recorded twenty five (25) reports, eleven (11) for social gathering and fourteen (14) for curfew breach.
The Southern Division recorded twenty one (21) cases, eighteen (18) for social gathering and three (3) for breach of curfew.
East recorded eighteen (18) cases, thirteen (13) for social gathering and five (5) for breach of curfew.
North recorded nine (9) while Central recorded ten (10) cases of social gathering while they both recorded nil reports of breach of curfew.
Special court sittings will be called in Lautoka, Nadi, Sigatoka, Tavua, Rakiraki, Nasinu and Suva this morning.
Reiterating the Hon. Prime Minister’s message to all Fijians, although the curfew times have been moved to 10pm and the relaxation of maritime movement comes into effect today, throughout the weekend the advice on taking all necessary precautionary measures remains in effect.
