A woman, who allegedly assaulted a Police officer, was denied bail by the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

Oripa Hicks was produced before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili charged with two counts of theft and assaulting a police officer.

Hicks is alleged to have stolen tins of Nestle Chocolate drink from Shop N Save supermarket in Nabua amounting to $35.80 on Thursday when she also allegedly assaulted the officer.

Sergeant Joseph Dickson objected to bail saying she had breached bail conditions for her other cases and had also been charged with violating curfew orders in another court.

Hicks pleaded with Chief Magistrate Ratuvili to release her on bail with strict bail conditions as she had two children, aged six and three years, to look after.

Magistrate Ratuvili further remanded Hicks in custody, and adjourned the case to May 8.
