Three suspended Police officers, charged for alleged brutality, pleaded not guilty in the High Court in Suva yesterday.

Benedito Bolabiu, 26, Laisenia Naiwau, 31, and Lasaro Turagadrau, 35, appeared before Judge Justice Daniel Goundar.

They are accused of pouring hot water on the complainant’s back and hitting his legs with a cement block on November 5, 2019 in Navua.

State prosecutor Sujata Lodhia told the court that the defence had requested for the station diary and further medical report of the complainant.

Defence lawyer Ana Tuiketei also made a verbal application for the matter to be remitted to the Magistrates Court.

Justice Goundar extended the jurisdiction for the Navua Magistrate to trial the matter and transferred the case accordingly.

The matter was adjourned to June 6.
