Look After Your Children: PM
The Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has issued a stern warning to parents and guardians to monitor the whereabouts of their children as the whole of Fiji experience continuous rain and flooding. Look after the children during this heavy rain, says Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

This follows a heavy rain warning issued by the Fiji Meteorological Office for the whole country over the next few days

“I want to strongly reiterate those warnings to every Fijian watching these rains, and the resulting flooding can kill. Do not swim in rivers or streams, or risk crossing the rapids,” he said.

Mr Bainimaram also warned that the waters can carry disease. Given the recent, post-cyclone rise in LTDD cases –– Leptospirosis, Typhoid, Dengue, and Diarrhoea –– all Fijians need to take this threat seriously.

Meanwhile, Police are also advising parents to ensure their children do not play in flooded drains and rivers as heavy rain continues to pound parts of Fiji.

Yesterday, our team witnessed children playing in flooded spots and even in drains, unsupervised.

In Nasole, three children managed to make the Kings Road their playground.

The children were seen lying in the water that had collected on the side of the road, timing the oncoming cars.
