Meet Esita Talei.

The mother of three children is a market vendor and also a farmer.

She does her sales every Saturday at the Labasa market and on weekdays she works on her farm.

She plants yaqona, root crops and vegetables.

Ms Talei said she faced so many challenges. Her youngest daughter is nine months old and at times it is hard for her to manage her work.

“Every Saturday I bring my youngest daughter to the market and the two others will go to the farm with their father,” she said.

She said she was thankful to the women vendors in the market because they would look after her daughter when she is busy with customers.

Ms Talei ensures that she has time for her children. She said her income this week would be used for their Mother’s Day celebration in Waikisi, Labasa, with her mother.

She is originally from Nakuku, Vaturova, and currently stays in Talaleka settlement. Ms Talei said she was grateful for her husband’s support.
