RC Manubhai Group Of Companies Forced To Make Cuts, 100 Laid Off

RC Manubhai Group of Companies has laid off 100 workers amid claims it will lose as much as $5 million in business over the next few months and well into 2021.

Managing director Dinesh Patel said the business was down by 50 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Mr Patel said the closing of Lautoka and Suva borders for 14 days, as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus pandemic, impacted their business operations.

RC Manubhai reduced working hours for its staff saying local sales hit the bottom line as walk-in customer numbers crashed.

Mr Patel said construction work on most projects has come to a near-standstill. RC Manubhai has 10 branches which are located in Tavua, Rakiraki, Lautoka, Nadi, Suva, Valelevu, Nausori, Labasa and two in Ba.

The RCM Group of Companies include R.C. Manubhai and Co. Pte. Limited, Manubhai Industries Pte. Limited, Roofing and Profiles (Fiji) Pte Limited, Ajax Spurway Fasteners Pte Limited, C R P Industries Pte Limited and Glass & Mirror (Fiji) Pte Limited.
