Alleged Police Attacker Remanded

A 22-year-old man has been remanded in custody after he allegedly kicked and assaulted a Police officer on duty.

Waisake Buluvale of Caubati in Nasinu appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza at the Magistrates Court in Nasinu yesterday.

Buluvale was arrested on Monday after he allegedly kicked and assaulted an officer, who was attending to a report of causing trouble.

The Police officer sustained minor injuries and has returned to work.

Buluvale is charged with one count of serious assault.

He waived his right to legal counsel and was remanded in custody.

Magistrate Hamza ordered the accused to file a formal bail application as the accused had pending matters before the court.

The matter was adjourned for mention on May 13.
