Waqainabete Walks Talk in Fight Against Waterborne Diseases

The Minister for Health and Medical Services, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete, was spotted walking the talk in the ministry’s efforts to fight against Leptospirosis, Typhoid, Dengue, and Diarrhea (LTDD).
He assisted in the clean-up at Veiraisi and Nadera on Thursday.
Members of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces also assisted the ministry.
They have been deployed, throughout the week, to the heavily-affected areas of Vusuya Settlement which was hit by Tropical Cyclone Harold.
The team was motivated to be accompanied by the minister in their effort to combat LTDD.
The cleanup campaign took place in Nausori, Nasinu and Korovou with community awareness of maintaining a clean and healthy living environment.
Since Tropical Cyclone Harold, there have been 1146 confirmed cases and seven resulting deaths of LTDD around Fiji.
Of these confirmed cases, 278 are leptospirosis; 77 are typhoid; and 791 are dengue. A majority of these cases are in the Central Division.
